COMTEC Quality Systems, S.A. was founded in Barcelona in 1996, with its headquarters in Rambla Catalunya 39. Its goal was to provide an answer to the market emergent necessity to offer consultancy services, so that organisations could obtain the ISO 9001 Certification.
Due to our experience and the knowledge of the market, our company has progressed over this ten years; hence, it has redefined its position and has also expanded its services. Nowadays, it offers services related to training and consultancy management and development of organisations. During the last few years our task has enabled us to develop a strong know-how as well as good references.
Comtec was created due to a collaboration agreement with a company from Amsterdam. Its main task was to make consultancy projects for ISO 9000 certifications in the Netherlands as well as in Belgium.
Through this collaboration agreement, COMTEC Quality Systems, S.A. adopted the name, the corporate image and the know-how from the Dutch company. Its aim was to speed up and protect its entry in the market, as well as being able to take part in an international network.
That year, the “Catalan Quality Centre” CIDEM approved COMTEC to carry out its activity based on Quality Management Systems Consultancy. From that moment the company started to grow, working with small and medium-sized businesses, industrial and service companies.
In 1999, COMTEC Quality Systems, S.A. got separated from the Dutch. It just kept its know-how relationships, and both companies took advantage of their synergies.
The firm growth was consolidated when it augmented its consultancy services regarding environmental management services and prevention of risks at work; as well as the increase of publications; the entry of new projects from emerging fields, such as the health system and the civil service; and last but not least, the training activities development.
In 2002, the “Catalan Quality Centre” of Generalitat de Catalunya (the Government of Catalunya) awarded the “Catalan Quality Award” for large companies to one of its customers: Fundació Centre Hospitalari Unitat Coronària de Manresa (Manresa’s Coronary Unit Hospital Foundation). It acknowledged the task developed over the years and, consequently, culminating the project that it carried out.
COMTEC continued enlarging its services. Strategy and planning consultancy services and personal data protection services were both incorporated in the year 2004. It was in that same year that COMTEC obtained the “Catalan Quality Award” thanks to a project done for one of its clients: Fundación Integralia (Integralia Foundation) (DKV Group).
As a result of the increase in projects for health customers during the last few years, as well as the consequent experience and the place acquired in that field, in 2005 COMTEC and Unió Catalana d’Hospitals (Catalan Hospitals Association) signed a collaboration agreement to provide training and consultancy services. Thus, COMTEC became a benchmark consultancy in the Health sector. In order to adapt to the organisation reality, the corporate image was changed; a more modern and dynamic logo was created then. Furthermore, the company was ISO 9001:2000 accredited.
COMTEC celebrates its tenth anniversary in the year 2006 by planning several events. It included a new visual identity line that was more cosmopolitan, energetic and fresh. Communicative performances took place such as the corporate webpage launch. Moreover, new collaborators were introduced to provide new lines of service, as well as to reinforce the consolidated ones. The new environmental rule ISO 140001:2004 started to be implemented.
